Approximately 100 family and friends of ski jumper Art Devlin gathered at the Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid on Friday morning to pay tribute to the Lake Placid icon with the unveiling of a permanent, life-size display in his memory.

With the bronze Devlin replica looking up at the 90 and 120 meter ski jump hills, officials and friends regaled in the many stories surrounding the local ski jumping legend.

Devlin, a five-time Olympian, was a Lake Placid native who died in 2004. In addition to his athletic career, Devlin was a television commentator for CBS and ABC, and was instrumental in Lake Placid securing the bid for the XIII Olympic Winter Games. He also served as Vice President of the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee.

The dedication ceremony opened with comments from MC Robi Politi and came to an appropriate end with ski jumper Colin Delaney of Lake Placid soaring from the 90 meter tower.
