This will mark the return of the Olympic medalists to Whiteface March 9-12. The top riders in parallel giant slalom, halfpipe and snowboardcross will show off their Italian “jewelry” to our region as the World Cup tour continues post-Games.
Parallel Giant Slalom (March 9): Given how he has dominated this discipline, we'd be surprised if Philip (Schoch of Switzerland ) didn't shock the world in Torino and Lake Placid .
In the pipe (March 11): Our bet is that some American(s) will return from Italy with a medal. We expect athletes like Mason Aguirre to challenge for the podium. Or will the fearless Japanese go bigger than no man (or woman) has gone before?
Snowboardcross (March 12): This sport (roller derby on snow) is the crossroads of chaos and mayhem. Only the strong survive and their names are Delarue, Wescott and Frieden.
